“When I Am Afraid”

Lord, my fears are loud

And often from my mind they crowd

The softer whispers of Your truth.

I think through all the worst –

The possibilities in a world that’s cursed

Are dark and endless.

Lord, my faith is weak,

Yet lead me to the mountain’s peak

Where fears will die before Your voice.

I hide my face and hear

You contradict the lies that feed my fear.

Your Word is greater.

Lord, my hope is sure.

The storm within cannot endure

The calm command, “I AM. Be still.”

You who number all my days,

Unsearchable yet good are Your ways

As You guide me home.
